Peppermint Bark

By Jennifer Lewis Candy 1 Comment »

Peppermint hot chocolate, peppermint mochas, and peppermint bark are undeniably some of our favorite holiday treats. Sometimes these holiday treats can be a bit costly if you enjoy them as much as we do. Continue reading »

If you know me well, you know I love FALL. I love the colors, I love baking, and I love making all things Pumpkin! Every year I look forward to ordering Fall inspired beverages from both Peet’s and Starbucks.

Just had my first Pumpkin Latte from Peet’s the other day and was inspired to replicate the flavors in a muffin. Continue reading »

Who doesn’t love to eat cookie dough? Well if you don’t, you’re missing out ;-).

Cookie dough is a favorite for many but there’s always that worry about the raw eggs eventually making us sick. We cookie dough lovers still take the risk but now there is a way to eat it without the worry of getting salmonella from eating raw eggs.

I ran into this recipe on Joy The Baker’s blog and boy am I glad I did! These little gems are a definite hit with my kids and with adults who still can’t resist a spoonful of raw cookie dough. Continue reading »

It’s been awhile but I’m back with a new blog post for all you Peanut Butter Moo’d lovers. If you’re not familiar with Jamba Juice’s Peanut Butter Moo’d, it’s a smoothie consisting of peanut butter, bananas, a chocolate base, soy milk, and nonfat frozen vanilla yogurt. It’s very high in calories so I tend to just buy them for the kids. You can easily make your own version at home which we do quite often. Continue reading »

I’ve been wanting to make this cookie for my mom ever since I saw it on someone’s blog. She loves cherries and will eat them fresh, in a jar, or dried. So when I stumbled across a recipe a few months back I kept telling myself that I need to buy some dried cherries and get this cookie in the oven.

Well I couldn’t find the original blog post, not sure why I didn’t bookmark it, but I searched and found this one that seemed to fit the bill. I liked that the recipe already had a reduced amount of butter in it so I only ended up reducing the sugar by 1/4 cup and the cherries down to a 1/2 cup. Next time I may add another tablespoon of chocolate chips and maybe even keep the original 2/3 cup of dried cherries.

The cookies turned out great with a chewy texture. I thought they were fantastic considering I’m not a huge cherry fan. I like cherries but wouldn’t just pick this recipe out of a bunch and be super excited to make them. I was more excited to make them for my mom ;-).

Yum! These muffins turned out great. They are very moist and I’m loving the chocolate banana combo. I decreased the butter by 2 tablespoons and cut the amount of sugar in half. I had very ripe and sweet bananas so they didn’t have to have the extra sugar to make them sweet. You can sub vanilla yogurt for the lite sour cream if you like and you can sub some whole wheat flour in as well.

The original recipe is made in a loaf pan but I prefer making it in muffin tins so I can distribute easily to my family. Plus it makes them easy to freeze. If you’re looking for something different to use up your ripe bananas give this recipe a try. Enjoy!

Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chips, and Oatmeal make this cookie loved by all in our house! Friday Family Fun Night aka FFN is our night to spend time together as a family, enjoy a treat, and unwind from the week. We usually choose a family friendly movie, play charades (kids favorite!), or pick out a board game. The kids really look forward to popcorn and a homemade treat on Family Fun Night. If you are looking for a moist yet easy chocolate cake recipe then you came to the right spot. This cake won’t disappoint. I have made this cake in a bundt pan, 9×13 pan, and 9″ round cake pans, all with great results. I was a little skeptical when I read that you add 1 cup of boiling water. Don’t let this one tiny step deter you from making this cake. Your cake batter will be really thin and that is normal, don’t worry. Continue reading »

I’ve been making muffins for my family for almost 10 years now and the one recipe that I can’t keep little hands off of is my recipe for Chocolate Chip Zucchini Orange Muffins. Today my kids ate 3 each throughout the day and I’m sure if I didn’t stop them they would’ve eaten them until they got sick. This guilt free, kid friendly recipe has made it to the top of our favorite muffins list. Continue reading »

Valentine’s Day is almost here! I was inspired to make Heart Cake Pops this year after seeing all the wonderful  Cake Pops on Bakerella’s website. This was my first attempt at making cake pops and it was a learning process but well worth the end result.

Two things I learned in the the process was that if you are going to make shaped cake pops such as hearts like I did you definitely need to make them thick enough for the lollipop stick  to insert into without the cake pop falling apart. I made mine about 3/4″ thick and they really needed to be at least 1 inch thick or more. Sadly I lost a few hearts due to this. Continue reading »
